Beautiful icebergs reflecting in a perfectly calm Disko Bay, under soft sunrise light. After visiting the bay a few months ago, I was so impressed with this magical place that I decided to guide a trip there myself. Next July, at the exact day the sun first touches the horizon after a long Arctic summer, my new 'Tales of Arctic Nights' Greenland workshop will begin. We'll have a whole week of nightly sails to shoot the unbelievable nature in the area, including jagged mountains, icebergs as big as skyscrapers and playful whales, all under the amazing light of the midnight sun. Join us and sign up for this spectacular trip! You're welcome to follow me on facebook and Instagram , where you can get a first look at my images, as well as get all the info about my work, photo tours and other news. ISLAND SAGA III by phigun
Island Saga III 2015 This was easily one of the most amazing and colorful sunsets I have ever whitnessed during my travels and one of those super rare and special moments as a landscape photographer. This sunset highlights the ridiculously beautiful waterfall Seljalandsfoss located in south Iceland right on the ringroad. I camped right across the street and we just had lunch and enjoyed the evening as this sunset sets in, I quickly grapped my tripod and my filters and ran to the waterfall. I fired about 100 shots one after another, in between I also captured some video material. I was quite excited and scared at the same time to mess this shot because this was a one of a kind oportunity and only the second perfect sunset overall during my 11 day roadtrip. Disappearing Act? by scottsmorra
What would you do if Hrafnabjargafoss disappeared? I just found out the National Power Company of Iceland is planning to build a dam on the Skjálfandafljót River in Northern Iceland. The Skjálfandafljót River is home to several stunning waterfalls including; Aldeyjarfoss, Ingvararfoss, Hrafnabjargafoss and Goðafoss. The new Hrafnabjörg Power Plant and dam would divert water away from a long stretch of the river downstream and would lead to the loss of several waterfalls. There are currently 3 different options on the table for the dam. For option A, Aldeyjarfoss, Ingvararfoss, Hrafnabjargafoss would all dry up and disappear and for options B and C Ingvararfoss, Hrafnabjargafoss would be gone. Having seen these waterfalls in person, I feel it would be an incredible loss if they were to vanish. I do understand the need for energy, but it seems like there are better places than this area to build a dam. What do you think? If you would like to sign the petition against the dam construction you can click here http://bit.ly/1QazYSU My Website - Facebook - Google+ - Twitter - Instagram via 500px http://bit.ly/1OnOicn

Atlantic Aspiration by Florenaut
The sun broke through the clouds for the last time before the night, offering us a show of elusive beauty. The waves crashing accompanies this moment that plunges us into a state of calm and peace. September 2015 - Biscarrosse Plage / Landes / Aquitaine / France. via 500px http://bit.ly/1i71ohv

Close Encounters by Nicola_Pirondini
Shot in the same morning I took "No Time To Sleep". In this one, that little thing on the top of the rock is actually me, witnessing that flaming summer sunrise. I was on the Bismantova rock, in the appennino tosco-emiliano. Please view on black to enjoy the mood. Have a nice day everybody. via 500px http://bit.ly/1gbudYD

A Perfect Storm by guyschmickle
A perfect storm for photography is when an oncoming storm approaches an imminent sunrise or sunset resulting in crazy light and skies. That's what I had the pleasure of experiencing last weekend here in my hometown of Sedona, AZ. This image was taken in the Schnebly Hill area east of town and it made the gnarly trip back down the rugged 4x4 road through a nasty storm worthwhile. The lightning was captured with the aid of my Lightning Bug made by MK Controls. via 500px http://bit.ly/1i7MxnB

Mirroring the Grandeur by TrevorAnderson
This is another perspective of Rainier that I caught a couple years back. My recent trips have been more hiking oriented than photo oriented, partly due to the hazy skies presented by all of the wildfires; this has provided a good opportunity to go through some older folders. via 500px http://bit.ly/1UtAWuK

Battle Born by RyanBuchanan
+better view on black+ Logan Pass has always been a battleground. Over thousands of years, glaciers have carved out some of the most magnificent mountain peaks in North America. With relentless winters that allow for only a small window for life, survival here is tough. And this year even more so—drought conditions, forest fires, a nearly non-existent water flow, even the flowers were, for the most part, long gone all due to the lack of snowfall this past winter. Even in such harsh conditions, it's amazing how life still perseveres. This evening, on our second trip up to Logan Pass, we were rewarded with interesting cloud cover mixed with a smokey haze from the fires—resulting in some interesting light. I’ve always wanted to capture Clements Mountain with it’s unique, castle-like appearance and this was my chance! My daunting search to find a foreground began… I finally came across this lonely patch of flowers that was somehow still in full bloom. My goal was to create depth in the scene by getting extremely close to the flowers, making them appear as large as possible. I positioned the angle of the camera to where the flowers would lead the eye up through the mid-ground to the mountain. So, with a few passers-by wondering what the hell I was doing with my face and camera buried in this cluster, I took a few series of shots of the foreground at 7 different focal points which I was able to blend in photoshop for sharpness throughout. The light was more intense at this point, allowing me to keep the shutter fast enough to freeze any flower movement. Then I waited a little longer for the right sky light to set in. The clouds made for some great patterns coming out from behind the mountain as the hazy glow intensified. The lens distortion at the top of the frame helped lengthen the mountain and cloud lines. Thanks for looking and I appreciate your comments. Follow me: Website: ExposureScape.com Facebook: http://on.fb.me/1xFjc4v Twitter: @BuchananPhoto via 500px http://bit.ly/1LW38ai

Why bother by geraldmacfly
Why am I still posting pictures here, I wonder more and more. Since passing the 500 followers mark, it has been nothing but zero exposure and seeing photos hit the 99% mark with huge halos or over saturated areas is sending a signal that maybe I am posting in the wrong place. Despite loving seeing a lot of incredible work that can be found here, for us without a lot of followers this pulse system is too bizarre to say the least. Most of the time it will go to popular in a few minutes then it is like my stuff is gone completely, nothing for the next 23 hours. I want to thank everyone still following me and writing meaningful comments. By that I mean not writing comments all day long to hope that their work will get a nicer pulse, or not following me hoping that I will do the same and once I click the follow button they stop following me... but to really share their feedback with me. Thanks so much to those! via 500px http://bit.ly/1JAEGaV

For Jeff by dthompson
As I stood in the fog filled forest, I couldn't help myself from thinking of dinosaurs chasing me through this forest! So childish I know, but the primeval mood of the forest was so enchanting. The mood was that of a movie set, that was deep within the forest. Occasion the inner kid comes out of me. Peace and Love I also wanted to take a moment to remember fellow photographer, and a just a wonderful guy, Jeff Swanson, who passed last year to cancer at the young age of 30. Please, if you get the time, visit Jeff's memorial website at: http://bit.ly/1Esn55O If you'd like to get involved or would like more info on melanoma please visit the Melanoma Research Foundation (http://bit.ly/1hqNtlP) via 500px http://bit.ly/1FdvRQ3

Crater Pool by TonySpencer
A very late winter in Iceland meant that the conditions in June were a great deal different than I had seen at this time of year before. With many of the roads closed we did a lot of flying in a helicopter which was an incredible and a very productive experience. I have so many images to start processing but this is the first one I have looked at properly. The rich blue colour is water over a snow and ice filled crater and the fog in the valley behind was the finishing touch to this incredible landscape. via 500px http://bit.ly/1gL9L28
