Data In Motion was a Pitch/ RND project initiated by Google’s Advanced Technology and Products group. The project was lead by Director and dance choreographer Benjamin Millepied and the concept was to use his unique skill to bring a real-time dancing avatar to life on a mobile device. We utilized motion capture to create a library of phrases that could then be attached to specific gestures generated by moving a mobile device. The overall purpose was to create a platform where anyone could create something beautiful just by moving around with their phone. The MILL was commissioned to handle the animation and they brought me onboard. My task was to design the look and motion for the dancing avatar. I worked closely with ATAP’s Unity programmers in order to figure out what type of animations we were able to realistically produce on a mobile device. The project unfortunately never left the RND stage. This montage is a compilation of shots i did for Look development.
