Range of light by crystallynn

"And after ten years of wandering and wondering in the heart of it, rejoicing in its glorious floods of light, the white beams of the morning streaming through the passes, the noonday radiance on the crystal rocks, the flush of the alpenglow, and the irised spray of countless waterfalls, it still seems above all others the Range of Light." - John Muir via 500px http://bit.ly/1EyE9Tr

Terra… Not so firma by bruceomori

Terra… Not so firma. Lava exits a tube and flows into the sea, creating another new black sand beach and delta of land, forever altering the Big Island's coastline. This truly remarkable and dynamic scene is mesmerizing to witness, let alone shoot. Shoes: $175. Tripod: $950. Getting the shot: Priceless. : ) via 500px http://bit.ly/1BiWPWj

Six Hundred by alexnoriega

The last 600 seconds of light at California's Mono Lake, on a summer evening last July. Looks best on black - the default white background on 500px is tufa king bright! After six great months with friends and family in the coldest metro area in the US, I think it's yet again time for a more temperate clime - where winter is optional, and more conducive to making landscape photographs. The west is calling. I should have at least one fresh image of the frigid north for you all before I move back to Portland, Oregon at the end of the month. +Should really view this on black+ Let me be the first to say it—I may have gone a little overboard on this one—but who knows. I’ve been lost in my dark processing world for weeks with this one…I surrender. Every time I look at it, I end up tweaking the color balance, tones, contrast, on and on… I can’t escape it… I fear I’ve stared this one down to the point of no return. Too dark—probably. Over-baked—most-likely. color balance off—sure. But what I was trying to capture here—and what initially started me off down this endless path—was my personal experience here at this incredibly unique and beautiful waterfall. Perched alone on this edge, in the dark afterglow, standing in the water, with it flowing all around me was a surreal experience I will never forget and a personal highlight for me on my trip. I guess that’s why I went with the more surreal look. I felt like this composition in combination with the sky light captured some of the magic of amazing place. And I feel the longer you stare at it the more details come out and the tones balance out more. Aside from trying not to fall in, the main difficulties here were getting the right shutter speed, focal length and dealing with no light really hitting the falls at all. In post, balancing out the warm tones with the cool tones and the ferociously blue water and intensely warm sky was rough. This was taken on Saturday, June 21—summer solstice—when the sun bounces off the horizon, never setting. Was taken after midnight and the glow in the sky was just gorgeous—like I had never seen before. Had been raining all day and I came back at night for some long exposure action. All the moisture and mist in the air allowed for the most interesting, even, saturated glow across the sky right when the sun ducked below the cloud layer for a short time. Morning Star by JustinMajeczky

**Morning Star** We stopped in at one of my favorite Tahoe beaches at about 5am yesterday. The sun's light was just coming over the horizon when I shot this. I really like the contrast of the left side representing light lead by the "morning star" (aka Venus) and the right side representing darkness with the Milky Way smack dab in the middle. Kind of like the yin and yang of life. Without darkness there would be no such thing as light and without light there would be no such thing as darkness. Two sides of the same coin. Such is life. Feel free to share. EXIF: 8 image panoramic, 25sec, iso 3200, f2.8, 16mm via 500px http://bit.ly/1y3Jlcb

FIRE BUBBLES by EdwinMartinez

FIRE BUBBLES | Belly of Abraham, Nordegg Alberta My last sunrise on Abraham lake, we were gifted with this fiery sunrise despite strong wind gust. It is one of the most surreal experience to walk on the lake and see thousands of bubbles in the surface. The three days in Nordegg provided us with the best conditions and light. Hope to share more from the adventure soon. via 500px http://bit.ly/1yvVVWm

Another photograph from this summer and the most intense storm I have witnessed. In my original post, Once Upon A Storm, I wanted to convey the totality of the experience and the grand scale that exists in the Southwest. Here I hope to describe a more intimate view of the shear power that existed in each detail. http://bit.ly/1CEHMW9 via 500px http://bit.ly/1yvnQWE

The paradise under the storm by mfabius83

I want to share an amazing sunset which I was lucky to admire last September near Passo Pordoi, Dolomites. The rain came down upon me, and a incredible light filtered and struck the walls of the Gran Vernel and the Marmolada, the Queen of the Dolomites. Take this shoot was not easy, the rain bathed the lens and the cold became pungent because the clothes was completely wet. Despite the difficulties were very exciting moments.
