Photograph taken by @christianziegler This amazingly colorful bug has warning colors and is best avoided because it is poisonous. Here an adult is sitting on a spectacular maracuya (Passiflora edulis) flower. When they are young, the bugs feed on the poisonous sap of the maracuya plant, which renders them poisonous. My first book, A Magic Web, about the tropical forest of Barro Colorado Island in Panama, has been re-designed and finally translated to Spanish, Un Tejido Magico. Part of the redesign included using newer photographs which I took on assignment for @natgeo over the years. @thephotosociety @natgeocreative #conservation #ecology #BarroColoradoIsland #Panama #amagicweb #untejidomagico by natgeo
