Memory Box is the third and final film directed and produced by the filmmaking team of Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell, (Until The Light Takes Us, 99%). It premiered on Sept. 24, 2016, at Fantastic Fest. Aaron Aites, also the singer-songwriter behind the band Iran, died on April 28, 2016, after battling cancer. His band released three albums: S/T (1998), The Moon Boys (2002) and Dissolver (2008). Pitchfork described his self-titled album, IRAN, as “unabashed excellence.” Aaron’s final EP as IRAN will be released sometime later this year or in early 2017. It is available as a reward at the link below. Aites’ last film as a director, Memory Box, was intended as a proof-of-concept for a feature. Aites and Ewell were also working on a ghost film at the time of his death. Earlier this year I went on a trip with Red Bull to direct and film an episode of their Chasing the Shot series. This short film is more or less a directors cut of some of my favorite images and moments from that trip featuring Cam Richards and Noah Wegrich. While the primary focus of the trip was surfing, it was hard not to get wrapped up in the beautiful scenery, landscapes and eventually the sense of time standing still. I wanted to make something to reflect that and not have such an emphasis purely on surf action and the fast pace we are constantly surrounded by. Welcome to the void, I hope you enjoy. Music By D.R. A defiantly unconventional crowdpleaser.” - Eric Kohn, Indiewire “Allow your head to Explode.” - Mike S. Ryan, Hammer To Nail “The most stand-alone sequel ever made.” -Calum Marsh, The Village Voice In a desperate search to create a follow-up to Joe Swanberg’s 2011 film UNCLE KENT, Kent Osborne travels to a comic book convention in San Diego where he loses his mind and confronts the end of the world. Reuniting in the GREMLINS 2 of “Indie” sequels, Joe Swanberg, Jennifer Prediger and Tipper Newton return in a surrealist look into Osborne’s madness. Written by Osborne and passing the directors’ torch over to Todd Rohal (THE CATECHISM CATACLYSM) UNCLE KENT 2 plays out like an absurdist successor that bends the rules of sequels and the minds of the audience. Steph Gilmore, Inside The Tempest. It’s hard to go past Indonesia for a strike mission in the middle of the liturgical year. We scoured the archipelago from the comfort of our office chairs in search of a wave that compliments Steph’s particular set of skills. Steph was after “cute slabs” – the definition of which you’ll discover in due course—and while we weren’t blessed with days of waves, the one day of money was well worth the wait, and near-death experience of the boat ride back to base. Here’s two days on a leaky boat through the rose-tinted specs of the eternally peppy, Miss Stephanie Gilmore. “Stephanie is an original badass. She surfs like people should surf and plays music from her soul. She’s interested in a variety of topics outside of riding waves. She’s got an eclectic and diverse group of friends and followers all around the world. She’d be just as comfortable in her skin if nobody knew who she was. My mom wrote me yesterday and said she is a Stephanie groupie and she just loves her whole deal. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who has anything but praise for her. She’s not complicated like most women seem to be and knows how she wants to live and what she wants. What else can I say?” Kelly Slater. http://bit.ly/2cOtxdS

In this video we have tried to show movement and the enormous chromatic beauty of corals, a kind of marine animals that despite being one of the oldest animals on our planet, are mostly unknown. You will discover its stunning beauty, its spectacular colors and the mystery of his movements. To capture these images it was necessary to apply the technique of time lapse as the slow movements of these animals are very difficult to see at a glance. The use of macro lens gives a large enough vision to contemplate the huge variety of colorful species. Watch The Junction: An animated series of creative encounters. Stories of musical magnetism – how unique musical collaborations came to be. Animated short films tell the funny and often unexpected stories of artists, how they met, and the music they created together. It’s a known fact that opposites attract. The classically trained Chilly Gonzales and rock provocateur Peaches brought out the best in each other when they first met at a basement jam session. Coming from opposite ends of the spectrum, they found common ground in their willingness to cross over. That bliss of breaking down the familiar and giving an unknown path a try shines through in the animation of Patrick Doyon, an Academy Award-nominated director. Sometimes, an apple rotten with old ways can grow into a sturdy new tree. The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year. ► Visit our official website: http://win.gs/avjLrK ► Like us on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/12N5Ch0

To donate visit: goo.gl/GRpW11 Dereck and Beverly Joubert answer the call to save a group of rhinos from poachers in South Africa. Join us in supporting them on their journey to save one of Africa’s most iconic species. Despite decades of research to the contrary, a myth persists that the horn of a rhinoceros has medicinal qualities for humans. Even today, one rhino is poached for its horn every 7.5 hours worldwide—and only 20,000 rhinos remain in the wild. As we celebrate World Rhino Day on September 22, GoPro is proud to partner with several organizations dedicated to saving this majestic species. Rhinos without Borders is a partnership between Great Plains Foundation and &Beyond. Together, they are on a mission to find the right formula of conservation, communities, and commerce that will make a lasting, sustainable difference to the world’s wildlife. Rhinos Without Borders program is relocating rhinos on a scale never before seen, moving 100 of them from the highest-density poaching areas in South Africa to the safest regions in Botswana. Three calves have already been born to the relocated rhinos. Protecting them will lead to a thriving ecosystem that affects all animals around the rhinos, right down to the lowly dung beetle. It’s a model the organization hopes to expand across Africa. Join GoPro in supporting these organizations’ efforts to help move 100 rhinos into safety. Together, we can finish what they’ve started—and save the last of the rhinos. Shot on the HERO4® camera from ‪http://GoPro.com. It was a passion project as well as my graduation thesis film at Communication University of China. This 11-month journey was very challenging, but it was a perfect learning opportunity as well. The idea started back in 2014 when Interstellar was released. I was deeply impressed by the movie and was inspired by the two robots TARS and CASE. The idea of intellectual robots exploring space developed from there. Other inspirations include Pixar movies like WALL-E and Toy Story, as well as CHAPPiE, NASA documentaries about Mars Rover Curiosity, and short films by individuals like Alex Roman’s The Third & The Seventh, Richard Mans’ Abiogenesis, Erik Wernquist’s Wanderers, Alf Lovvold’s Dawn of the Stuff, and so many more. Echoic Audio, one of the UK’s leading music & sound design studios, joined this adventure with epic cinematic score and detailed sound design which catapulted the film to a new level that I had never imagined. This project pushed me to do what I never thought I could do. However, it also keeps punching me in the face and shows me how limited my skills are. There are still tons of problems in the making that I can’t figure out even now. Thanks to everyone for the support along the way. The new adventure begins… */

A sample of these collections are on display to the public, but 99 percent of the Smithsonian’s treasures remain behind the scenes. Scientists work with these objects to study and decipher the world we live in, each specimen offering its own tiny clue to the natural world.

“Papa Machete” is a glimpse into the life of Alfred Avril, an aging subsistence farmer who lives in the hills of Jacmel, Haiti. He also happens to be a master of the mysterious martial art of Haitian machete fencing, also known as Tire Machèt. Teaching about the practical and spiritual value of the machete—which is both a weapon and a farmer’s key to survival—Avril provides a bridge between his country’s traditional past and its troubled present. The film documents his proud devotion to his heritage and his struggle to keep it alive in the face of contemporary globalization. Charles Clark believes in the power of visualization. He hears the crowds. He tastes the sweat. He feels the energy. He smells the smoke. Most importantly though, he sees himself bringing home a gold medal for Team USA at the 2016 Olympic Games. And yet, after suffering a debilitating injury in 2010, this once-decorated athlete’s goal seems more distant than ever. To reclaim his dream, he’s dedicated his life to power of positive thinking and visualization. As the games near and his odds converge with his aspirations, Charles explores past wounds both on and off the track and realizes that true victory doesn’t always come in gold. Watch the full film here: http://bit.ly/2cH7Uxf WINNER! Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Prize 2016 In 1917, J.R. Brinkley, a country doctor practicing in Milford, Kansas, begins treating his male patients for impotence by surgically implanting them with goat glands, a treatment that is so successful that Brinkley starts raising his own goats to meet an increasing demand. Over the years he builds the country’s 4th most powerful radio station (the better to sell his medical miracle), runs for governor of Kansas, and amasses a fortune with which he lives in sumptuous splendor. NUTS! draws upon a fascinating trove of archival materials and integrates charming animated sequences that, together, bring to life a man who saw himself as more Albert Schweitzer than P.T. Barnum, but who ultimately turns out to be an unholy mix of Bernie Madoff and Donald Trump.

fost.org 2016 Future of Storytelling Speaker: Bjarke Pedersen LARPing expert & Creative Director, Odyssé Studies have shown that if a person changes their physicality or is given a means to behave differently, such as putting on a costume, they change their behavior automatically in response. This is what happens with live action role playing (LARPing), where people take on character roles and physically act them out in fictional settings. As the Creative Director of Odyssé and one of the world’s experts on LARPing, Bjarke Pedersen has spent many years exploring the power of this collaborative form of storytelling. He’s observed that by getting a chance to engage with different characters, LARPers are also able to learn more about themselves. LARPing is also particularly powerful for the ways in which it relies on building trust among people. Many individuals are able to tell their own stories within a given framework, but it is the larger output of so many different stories being told at the same time that makes LARPing so unique and powerful.

Directed by Oliver Astrologo & Nils Astrologo - http://bit.ly/1EA01lP Much has been made about the wonders of Venice, but few ever venture deep enough across its less touristy, yet still historical hidden places. Beyond hundreds of canals and a diverse architectural style, a secret facet of Venetian life lives on, in which the journey of hand crafting gondola wooden oars and loomed fabrics remains rooted in ancient folk traditions. This short film uncovers the secrets that have been handed down from father to son and projects you to the Venice that existed 500 years ago, immersing you in the extraordinary craftsmen’s veiled workshops that belong to a long lost era. This project has been produced in partnership with René Caovilla, the master Venetian shoemaker who has overwhelmed the world with his creations.
