Bio-inspire A/V Dome Performance IAIA | Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico, USA, 2015 Fiske Planetarium - University of Colorado Boulder in Colorado, USA, 2015 BioInspire is an A/V dome performance which has screened in the Institute of American Indian Arts(New Mexico, USA) and Fiske Planetarium - University of Colorado Boulder(Colorado, USA). Artificial neural networks(ANNs), a largely used method in machine learning and cognitive science, are inspired by the biological neural networks, namely the neural system of the animals. The ANNs are composed of several nodes, layers and connections which simulate to some extent the message exchange and processing through a biological neural network. In fact, ANNs tries to find an approximate functions that evaluate all the inputs in order to give a meaningful output concerning the data. Each function is specific to the learned data according to which the form of the ANN is shaped. So, ANN adapt itself to learn from the data, to mine it; it then turns into a generic processing model that evaluates, classify, categorize the inputs, likewise our brain, neurons and synapses. As the quantity of layers, nodes and connections in an artificial neural network increase, the structure gets more complex. Getting the inspiration from the structure of an ANN, our aim is to redefine the complexity of a neural network using abstract objects and sound referring to it’s natural form. In this conceptual animated short, we aim to create a comedic performance where the past, present and future realities overlap and interact in an environment where time has no start or end. A modern take on Zbigniew Rybczyński’s Tango, every actor that participates in this space is trapped in an infinite loop where their actions simultaneously bare and yet bare no consequence to another. Starting with a single actor that performs the same series of mundane actions, followed by another and yet another, we start to discover the motivation of these characters and their performance do not simply coexist but are correlated in a complex chain of events. Hilarity ensues as every absurd action cumulates in an amalgamation of intricately choreographed antics. __________________________________________________________________________________________ In partnership with The Foundry. FAIK - ‘Saying bye was a mistake’ The story of a guy who regrets the choices he made. He keeps looking back on an unfilled relationship he had with a woman. Waves symbolize the tempestuous emotions, whereas the hot air balloon represents the memories. Finally, the paint reflects time which passes and separates them from each other. It’s a video with double exposure (filmed in Istanbul and Cappadokia), put on backgrounds with paint mixed in milk and dishwashing liquid. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1st E.P 'SHARR MOUNTAINS’ available 10th of February 2016 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Site web : www.faik.fr Facebook: http://on.fb.me/1nsSOwK Instagram: http://bit.ly/1ZLEI5i Twitter: http://twitter.com/musicfaik Soundcloud : http://bit.ly/1nsSMoJ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Director: Thomas Blanchard Lighting Technician : Maud Regnault (http://bit.ly/1ZLEI5l) Actresses : Defne Güvenç Neylan Cankurtaran Actors: Faik Şardağ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - http://bit.ly/1MxXy9r - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -BLENDED- http://bit.ly/1ZLEI5mwww.faik.fr Facebook: http://on.fb.me/1nsSOwK Instagram: http://bit.ly/1ZLEI5i Twitter: http://twitter.com/musicfaik Soundcloud : http://bit.ly/1nsSMoJ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Director: Thomas Blanchard Lighting Technician : Maud Regnault (http://bit.ly/1ZLEI5l) Actresses : Defne Güvenç Neylan Cankurtaran Actors: Faik Şardağ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - http://bit.ly/1MxXy9r - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -BLENDED- http://bit.ly/1ZLEI5m

The song and title inspired me to create a narrative about the Y generation, about how people can become desperate about creating the perfect piece of work, the ultimate fulfillment in the eyes of others. The obsession of a promised, expected, fulfilling life. I like to think that this video is about how this generation has been told repeatedly by their parents how special of a person they are. I wanted to create a ridiculous, sadly desperate and manipulative character that would push this obsession to the limits, which is using death as an art performance in order to ultimately be respected in the eyes of others. Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time premiered on 15 January 1941 in the prisoner-of-war camp where the composer was interned during World War Two. To celebrate the 75th anniversary Sinfini Music commissioned me to create an animation around it. Working with Prof. Marcus du Sautoy I used the piece to explore Messiaen’s complex relationship to mathematics, music and religious belief. Welcome to Peahi, she was awakened this past weekend by one of the largest swells to hit jaws in about a decade or so. With wave heights and periods that haven’t been seen in quite a long time as well. The wave itself seemed to have weeded the crowd out pretty thin, separating the men from the boys. but if you watch this you’ll see that many were also ready to stare this monster of A wave straight in the eye. Kai Lenny, Aaron Gold, Ian Walsh, Shane Dorian, & Albee Layer are just a few names that took on mother natures scariest and most beautiful marvel called Jaws. Please enjoy this video of waves we thought were un-surfable, being surfed. -Marc Chambers

A Piñata manages to escape her destruction from a birthday party but after falling in love, she realizes that what she really wants is to be beaten. Through a fantastic story about love and pleasure, the short film explores the masked violence that we live day by day, the prohibitions, and the rules that determine our intimate and social behaviour to fulfill our personal desires. Dulce Dolor is a metaphor for the honesty that everyone should have to himself or herself. Just like a sadomasochistic Piñata, it doesn’t matter how hard we try to suppress our instincts and our true self, it will always surface in our infinite quest for happiness, desire and pleasure. Even when the fulfillment of our deepest desires involve our self-destruction. Written and Directed by Moisés Aisemberg. Staring Tessa Ia and Harold Torres. Produced by Juan Sarquis.

An animated short film, narrated by two asylum-seeking men detained in Australia’s Manus Island Offshore Processing Centre, recounting the dangerous journeys that brought them to the island and their memories of the riot that erupted in 2014. —————————————- In July 2013, the Australian Government introduced a controversial immigration policy, transferring asylum seekers arriving by boat to remote offshore detention centres on foreign Pacific islands. Seven months later, the Manus Island centre erupted in violence when police and guards put down protests with sticks, machetes and guns, and 23 year-old asylum seeker Reza Barati was killed. We spoke to Behrouz and Omar, who are currently detained on Manus Island. “The real question is not: How many ads do we see? The real question is: What do we have to do to see no ads? And the answer is: go to sleep” (James B. Twitchell) We see ads everyday and everywhere. They have become part of our life. While some people try to avoid seeing ads, advertisers keep finding new ways to reach us. However they are unable to reach us when we sleep. Our dreams are the last safe and add-free place so it seems. But what happens when advertisers have the possibility to enter our dreams? Based on recent developments in brain science and technology this might be possible in the near future. This animated short is an impression of a dream infected by a brand we all know,…

Part of the ‘Postcards’ series from Just So - http://bit.ly/1QmYKmx Dancer Lindsay Kemp both amused and outraged audiences in London throughout the Sixties and Seventies. He taught David Bowie and Kate Bush how to move, and now at 77 is still teaching and dancing. We find Lindsay in the Italian port of Livorno, admired by a small coterie of students and fans, but largely forgotten by the outside world. He’s full of life but also dealing with passing time, which is both eating at his body and pushing him further adrift from his love of performance and the stage. An inspiration for this session was a conversation with my 3year old daughter while dressing up to go out: - Daddy, I don’t want to put this jacket on. - she moaned - Me too, darling but it is very cold outside. - I explained - How cold? and I had to figure out an interesting answer which would satisfy a preschooler’s curiosity, so I told her: - It is so cold that even soap bubbles freeze and it looks really beautiful, you know? I saw a sparkle in her eye so I promised to make a film to show her that. She was so excited about this idea that of course she forgot that she didn’t want to put her jacket on. It wasn’t easy to capture those bubbles because only around 5-10% of them didn’t break instantly and as you can imagine it was a challenge to be patient at -15 Celsius ;) but it was worth it because now that my daughter has seen it, winter is magic for her. Created by Jeff Desom Models by Oli Pesch More Info: http://bit.ly/1mFLdKX Inspired by the great tradition of optical theatres, Holorama brings several iconic scenes from the history of cinema back to life. From Twin Peaks to The Big Lebowski, Holorama gives these famous scenes a third dimension using a simple holographic process based on a semi-transparent screen, mixing the image of an extremely faithfully built model with the characters extracted from the original scene. A new perspective and a tribute to cinema, accessible to all. geist.xyz is a different kind of fashion project: what looks at first glance as an eccentric tangle of simulated dance and a color coordinated tumblr exploration turns out to be a study of handcrafted algorithmic textiles and procedural surfaces. A synthetic ghost shifts simulated textiles from passive matter to live organisms. They behave like apparitions in an artificial choreography, with movements that are imaginary yet familiar. Like a constant metamorphosis, the same sequence gets transformed over and over again. At each step, all aspects of the designs are modified, from algorithmic pattern to color scheme to fabric behaviour. The results are meandering layers of style changes. A linear montage shows the intricate details in 4k resolution. Shuffled layers of metronomic sounds emphasize the transformation fluctuating in and out of sync. The grid of moving images on www.geist.xyz visualizes our conceptual approach and color scheme. All conceptual, design and production work: ZEITGUISED. Sound track: “geist.xyz” by Superimposed Void

After miraculously surviving a stabbing attack, Hananel David is faced with overcoming his PTSD to become a paramedic and pass along the gift of life that has been given to him. As violence sadly continues to rage on in the Middle East and throughout the world I hope that people are able to turn their heads to the helpers risking their lives and putting others before themselves. Rather than focusing on the hate, I believe it’s this kind of selfless kindness that we need to focus on spreading in order to begin to heal this world. Rainfall Films and director Sam Balcomb present a live action short set in the Metroid universe, starring Jessica Chobot (Nerdist) and America Young (Halo 5). Learn more about Rainfall here: http://rainfall.tv [ This non-profit film is not associated with or endorsed by Nintendo or its subsidiaries ] The classic Nintendo franchise, Metroid, envisioned through the lens of 60s-70s science fiction cinema such as 2001, Alien, and Solaris: this was the concept for Rainfall’s most recent production. Instead of using a modern approach, a style was developed more in tune with the themes that inspired the first Metroid game in 1986: isolation, exploration, and the wonders of deep space. We hope you enjoy our take on the adventures of Samus Aran. Infinity’ is an immersive environment project by Refik Anadol. Project is an integral part of artist’s ongoing ‘Temporary Immersive Environment Experiments’ which is a research on audio/visual installations by using the state called immersion which is the state of consciousness where an immersant’s awareness of physical self is transformed by being surrounded in an engrossing environment; often artificial, creating a perception of presence in a non-physical world. In this project ‘infinity’ chosen as a concept,a radical effort to deconstruct the framework of this illusory space and transgress the normal boundaries of the viewing experience to set out to transform the conventional flat cinema projection screen into a three dimensional kinetic and architectonic space of visualisation by using contemporary algorithms. Light is the major element in the experiment, used to blur and interconnect the boundaries between the two realms actual/fictional and physical/virtual. It signifies the threshold between the simulacrum space created by the projection technology, and the physical space where the viewer stands. The experiments will discuss the inherent spatial qualities of immersive virtual environments and their effect on the embodied person. Through the presented framework, the experiments intends to question the relativity of perception and how it informs the apprehension of our surroundings. Rather than approaching the medium as a means of escape into some disembodied techno-utopian fantasy, projects sees itself as a means of return, i.e. facilitating a temporary release from our habitual perceptions and culturally biased assumptions about being in the world, to enable us, however momentarily, to perceive ourselves and the world around us freshly. Room size: 4M x 4M x 4M Medium: Four channel Audio/Visual Installation running on custom software. Exhibition at Artnivo’s ’40 Meters 4 Walls 8 Cubes’ in collaboration with Istanbul Biennial at Zorlu Performing Art Center. When releasing in the water, the slowly evolving mixture of oil and colored ink created interesting organic structures. The process has been repeated with some inertia in the water and these structures started to somehow dance, fitting nicely with the music flow.
