Shot on the holy Mt. Hiei, at the Enryaku-ji temple complex located just outside modern day Kyoto, “The 1000 days” documents the legendary ritual of the Kaihōgyō, a quest to become a living Buddha with a practice of daily pilgrimage that over 7 years and 1000 days brings the few monks who undergo it to travel 24,000 miles - roughly the equivalent of the Earth’s circumference - in the search for the ultimate enlightenment. The piece gives us an exclusive access into these incredible human beings and the teachings they live by to complete the training which would rank among the most demanding physical and mental challenges in the world. Only 46 men have completed the 1000 day pilgrimage since 1885.

The story of musician Janus Rasmussen, one half of Kiasmos. Third chapter of “My favorite music memory” series created by Igloo Films and Primavera Sound. It was a huge pleasure to translate Janus’s story into images. I wanted to experiment, to bring the spectator to Janus’s shoes and to homage the nordic spirit. “Man must rise above the earth – to the top of the atmosphere and beyond – for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives.” (Socrates) LAND OF MINE is an experimental macro short which is made of acrylic paint on paper. The idea was to recreate the unique look on planet earth from space which sometimes rather appears like an abstract piece of art than a real photo. From far away, the surface of our planet shows the beauty of it’s landscapes, coasts and the sea in perfect order. It’s highly expressive visual aesthetics and it’s contextual narrative inspired me to create an artistic interpretation of what I’ll never see with my own eyes. It’s just flowing colors on drawing paper, but it’s there, it’s massive and it’s real: the land of mine.
