I spent one week in Yangshuo (Guilin, Guangxi China) and saw some of the most stunning views in the world. It is famous for its fabulous Karsts formations and the Li River with the cormorant fishermen. I have tried to capture its beauty in this short film and hope you enjoy it! First round begins, the referee of my match didn’t show up. My opponent’s dad said: I’ll be the judge. I didn’t suspect a thing at first but then it dawned on me.. They were fucking cheating. Nobody was there to help so I decided to fight back as hard as I can. I channeled my rage towards the yellow ball. I was unstoppable. Running. Sweating. Swearing. Michel Jordan. Win. Win. Win. After the first round I felt super ready for the next round. But nobody called me for the next game. Days turned to weeks and summer was over. When school started I started to realize that there is no next round. It haunted me, Did they just continue to play without me?? And maybe the tournament wasn’t over, maybe they still play till this day. Maybe there is no next round at all. No final, no trophy. We’re All Going To Die takes on the simple task of exploring the meaning of life. Through colour, imagination, humour and fart jokes, Director Stefan Hunt asks you to look at the what ifs, the why nots and the oh wells that might flash before your eyes when paid a surprise visit by Death. With your internal monologue played by Jared Jekyll and Death played by Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, Lord of the Rings), you’re prompted to get existential whilst grinning from ear to ear during this independent short film of fantastical weirdness. The film is an adaptation from Stefan Hunt’s illustrated book ‘Were All Going To Die’ and part of a multimedia extravaganza of that same name that was launched in October 2017. The project uses death and art to empower its audience to fear less & live more. “Years ago I was crippled by fear. Reminding myself that I’m going to die has changed my approach to life. During the year of 2017 it was my little observation while drawing characters that there are many interesting shapes forming while we’re posing in our daily life. Some shapes like… shape of numbers. By living in a big city there are different kinds of people with different personalities, careers, tastes and lifestyles. I started making numbers design with illustrations of different character’s close-up while observing the variety of the surrounding until a set of forty illustrations from number 0 to 9 is completed. Then I animate each of them and turn the set into 40 loopy animations in grids. I called it Number Who. Goodbye Design was a passion project of summer 2018. The idea was born when I walked out of a museum a few months ago amazed by a product design exhibition from around ‘50s. The geniality of minimal design mixed with used retro flavor and playful accent colors of everyday objects (mainly Braun) were the essentials for the concept of this short movie. Everything is driven by an excellent track from Dirty Art Club which was a perfect match with the rhythmical side of the concept. “Good(bye) Design ” is a reminder of how people slowly lose a relationship with true Good Design. This is a film about Gevin Fax, the oldest member of the women motorcycle collective, The Litas. Growing up in Los Angeles as an African American lesbian in the 1960s, Gevin found that the world wasn’t always forgiving. She started riding dirt bikes at the age of twelve which distanced her even further from the other kids. Though it was because of her love for riding that gifted her peace of mind; it was her meditation, her medicine, her way to escape all of the other noise. Now, because of The Litas, she shares her love for the road with thousands of women all over the world. -William Desena The Litas exists as the world’s largest female biking collective and provides a inclusive community for female riders globally. In 2016 I met a Lita member while backpacking Costa Rica. This led me to LA based Lita member, Gevin Fax. Gevin stuck me as a leader and tenacious headstrong woman right off the bat. I am inspired by Gevin’s unapologetic ability to follow her heart while empowering others to do the same. Heading into their last games, San Antonio’s silky-smooth forward George Gervin was averaging 26.8 points per game. High-flying Denver showman David Thompson was at 26.6. Thompson had the greatest game of his career, shattering Wilt Chamberlain’s record for most points in a quarter. When Gervin took the court later in the day, he knew that he had to respond with a masterpiece of his own—or else risk losing the crown. Peabody-Award winning director Dan Klores (Crazy Love, Black Magic, Winning Time) collaborated producer Chris Isenberg (Dock Ellis & the LSD No-No) and animator Andy Baker. The film uses interviews with Gervin, Thompson and others along with distinctive water-color driven animation to recreate action from two legendary games which left no surviving footage. Dan Klores’ Basketball: A Love Story, a 20-hour documentary series, premieres Tuesday October 9th on ESPN.

The Great Indecision Council does not take any decision. What do we say we’re interested in? What are we actually interested in? In the intimacy of our smartphone or computer, we secretly tell Google what we’d like to know about. By fetching most looked up words from Google search and Google news in real time, and by bringing them to the public space through visual and sonic signals, visual artist Romain Tardy proposes to the visitors an involuntary self-portrait of our contemporary networked society. The Great Indecision Council works exclusively with data from the country in which it holds the session, which is mixed with visual content and animations designed by the artist. The Great Indecision Council takes the shape of a large scale, light and sound installation. A humoristic tone to a hot summer… This summer was long, hot and somehow tiring… The idea for this animation came from my current life situation, a really hot summer, which sometimes feels like a dream for some people… holiday mode on, the beach, the sun, the drinks… but for me, I was just stack in the city of London… making this project I guess… The film has a humoristic tone, based around objects that I have in my everyday life, the cheap fan we bought to bear the heat, my swimming trunks, my girlfriend’s hat and the beach paddles/rackets that we never used. Plastic is the main object that this animation is based on, the plastic that has been on the media, in talks with your neighbour, on newspapers… In the recent years, people have become more cautious about the usage, using less of it, or none at all.. As part of Blue Zoo’s long-running animated short films programme, a brief was sent out to everyone in the studio to pitch an idea to tell an emotional, human story, while experimenting with the physical optics of projecting CG animation. Blue Zoo Animation Director Ben Steer pitched the idea of Mamoon, which proceeded to win the company-wide studio vote, and went into production. Over the next year, he directed, filmed and collaborated with other artists to make this beautiful short. “Dinner For Few” is a ten minute CG-animated film depicting a sociopolitical allegory of our society. During dinner, “the system” works like a well-oiled machine. It solely feeds the select few who eventually, foolishly consume all the resources while the rest survive on scraps from the table. Inevitably, when the supply is depleted, the struggle for what remains leads to catastrophic change. Sadly, the offspring of this profound transition turn out not to be a sign of hope, but the spitting image of the parents. EMMY award winning animation artist Nassos Vakalis directed and wrote the film and the animation was produced in the United States of America and Greece with the technical and artistic collaboration of Eva Vomhoff from Germany. “Dinner For Few” is produced and funded by Nassos Vakalis and his wife Katerina Stergiopoulou. The original music is composed by Kostas Christides and performed by the Bratislava Symphonic Orchestra. “Dinner For Few” was inspired by the economic recession affecting South European countries like Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Nassos Vakalis grew up in Greece, where his family and most of his friends still live. “Dinner For Few” not only reflects his deep concern of the social and economic developments during the crisis but also highlights the inevitable and cyclical nature of the human affairs throughout history. Through its festival run “Dinner for few” screened at over 250 international film festivals and won 78 awards. It was one of the 60 Animated Shorts that Qualified for the Academy Awards in 2015.

A naive but internet savvy 22 year old navigates the reality of her boring, small town Canadian life juxtaposed with the fantasy of her provocative and powerful Instagram celebrity. Lolz-Ita was written, directed and stars Katie Boland. Lolz-Ita had it’s North American premiere at the Austin Film Festival and was nominated for Best Narrative Short. It was also a part of TIFF’s Short Cuts: Share Her Journey, which highlights the “most exciting emerging female film makers in the world.” LolzIta also played the Whistler Film Festival where it was nominated for the EDA Short Film Award which recognizes female film makers. It was also nominated for jury prizes at the Dallas International Film Festival and Cucalorus.

We love Malmö. In fact anyone involved in skateboarding loves Malmö. None more so than local ripper Karl Berglind. Despite spending most of his time abroad since dropping out of school to pursue skateboarding two years ago, Karl still finds time to return to his hometown. Whether it’s partnering with Vans to action community work at Kroksbäck, encouraging local kids to pick up skateboarding, or hanging out with his lifelong friends at Stapelbäddsparken - the park that shaped his style, Karl’s roots remain firmly in the Malmö skate scene.
