Nowadays people seem to go further in showcasing themselves on so many platforms like the internet and reality series on the television. The freedom of online anonymity and the digital companionship inviting people to go beyond their own boundaries. It became a play-field of doing weird things, a derailed society in which moral standards are becoming blurry and being pushed. This was the main thought from where I started and which I exaggerated. I wanted to show a group of mentally disoriented characters, victims of personal obsessions trapped in their own reality. They’re part of an online entertainment experience that’s serving the mass with their peculiar stories. I tried to evoke that feeling that you shouldn’t be watching but can’t stop looking and you feel some tragic discommode coming up. Create a certain indistinctness with the characters in the video, are they aware of their role and consciously playing with you? PETIT MINOU by fredconcha

www.fredconcha.com The Phare du Petit Minou is a lighthouse in the roadstead of Brest, standing in front of the Fort du Petit Minou, in the commune of Plouzané. By aligning it with the phare du Portzic, it shows the safe route to follow for ships to enter the roadstead. It also has a red signal that indicates a dangerous sector around the plateau of les Fillettes (literally the girls), one of the submerged rocks in the goulet of Brest — sailors remember this by using the mnemonic "the Minou blushes when he covers les Fillettes". via 500px http://bit.ly/1KhvQj3

Profanities of Glee by m_jackisch

Ever take that first bite of a perfectly cooked steak and exclaim, ‘OOOoooh, $#*%@ this is good!’ This was kind of like that for me, only the aesthetic version. I know of people who don’t see the appeal in hiking because of the lack of thrill factor, but I’d be lying if I said my heart wasn’t pounding as I stood gaping in awe of this place. The challenge of getting here (I failed once) made it that much more rewarding. The whole time, based on the images I had seen prior, I expected the sun to make an appearance from the left side igniting the falls to the right. Being March, this happened instead. via 500px http://bit.ly/1LK0HDZ

Dark Blow by albanhenderyckxphotography

Wandering somewhere in the inland of the ice island, It must be about 24 hours I was awake .. Surrounded by a thick fog, I was driving on the chaotic desert trails or Highlands reigned a captivating atmosphere and dramatic! After 1001 turns! A strangely resembling a mirage panel tells me that I'm far from camp or Kerlingarfjöll I planned bivouac! Relieved at the idea of joining Morpheus .. Until this moment I see or off as an unexpected and perfectly breakthrough in the axis of a jewel of humanity that I dreamed of .. I do capture could only listen to my instincts and again drive faster than ever! The more I went, the more I realized that my dream was to become reality. Falling Lessons: Erasure One - A Short Film Direct by Anh Vu about Alzheimers Based on the Poem by Beth Copeland about her experience with the onset of her dad’s Alzheimers Disease . To learn more about Alzheimers go here please - http://bit.ly/1dinkDw To read an interview with Beth Copeland please go here - http://bit.ly/1BDAJSc TRT: 2 min We used only three Ultra primes lenses, 16, 40, and 85mm - and a Red One MX camera - used hollywoodblack magic ¼ and 1/8 for filtration and minimal lighting - mostly a joker 800 bounced and just a 1x1 lite panel. We had a really beautiful house to shoot in. Added film grain in post - gorilla grain - just to take some of the digital edge off. Why not shoot on the Sony F35? Because we wanted to shoot up to 100 FPS. And why not the Alexa or Amira? - Because, wait maybe I could have scrounged one up from someone - oh well - we still got out of the old red one mx some really nice stuff and I don’t think people will be commenting that in the comment section - but maybe they will - so let’s see! Anyway in my testing perhaps the only camera would have made more of a difference for this would have been to shoot on film (but cost prohibitive for something of this scale), or maybe we should have shot f35 and just red one for the overcranked 100 FPS stuff but there would have been a possibility that the look would have not synced perfectly. Anyway! Anh was a really amazing director to work with - and the whole production was really great. Anh has a special certain sensitivity to actor’s performances that was refreshing and also has a really great visual eye and knack for visual design. I was honored to work on this film. Yet another killer sunrise at Lake Holiday, where I resided for 12+ years. In this particular instance, they had drained the lake for some spillway work, and allowed me to get to spots I couldn't get to before. Lenny and Roy by TedGore

Please follow me on FACEBOOK Patagonia. What can be said about this place and mountain Fitz Roy, one of the most striking mountain ranges in all the world. Well, I surely can’t think of anything to say to do it justice… that, and I’m just not eloquent enough, so hopefully an image can do that for me. I’ll kick off my series of Patagonia images with this one, one of the more impressive displays of nature I witnessed during my month in the area this past april. This was a special night, and I was fortunate that I found myself in a special place when it happened. I returned to this collection of ponds that I had come across on a previous hike through the back country in hopes of scoring a shot I wasn’t able to get when I first passed by. It was such an idyllic place to spend a night watching nature move through. My tent was perched just beyond the hill in this image, and I spend most of the day laying inside, peering out the tent door right at Fitz Roy and these lenticulars forming through out the day, growing more and more excited over the possibilities at sunset. While I’ve seen pictures of lenticular filled skies, I’ve never had the pleasure to see a display like this in person, and to see it in this spot, one of my favorite spots I came across during my travels, had me pretty elated, amazed, and thankful. It just really is special to head out into such a beautiful back country like this by yourself, totally self contained and self reliant, and enjoy the view as the day passes, hearing, seeing and feeling nothing but the elements interact with your senses. Capping it all off behind a camera recording such an amazing example of the wonder of nature is something I’ll never forget. I processed this in a surreal and moody direction in the hope that it may convey the actual surreality I felt when I was there. Enjoy! via 500px http://bit.ly/1LgHV9d

When a local ranger in a small country town finds an unidentified algae overwhelming the water supply, he knows that something’s not right. But it’s not until the sun goes down that he discovers the true extent of the danger - it seems the town is about to experience the effects of a mysterious infection that turns not only humans – but animals too – into zombies. Australian wildlife has never been so terrifying… Octopod Films and Veritas Entertainment, in association with Deadpan Films, are proud to bring you ‘Waterborne’ - the world’s first zombie kangaroo film, and a prequel for a feature film currently in development. Turn down the lights, put on your headphones (for extra sound design awesomeness) and enjoy! Shot on location in regional Victoria, Australia, the film only came about due to the amazing support from over 250 crowdfunding backers, who helped fund the creation of an incredible zombie kangaroo puppet, as well as a digitally animated zombieroo. The film has screened at over 50 festivals around the world (including big genre festivals such as Fantasia, Fantastic Fest, Sitges International Film Festival) and won multiple awards. Here is one from the Himalayas I took last spring. I’m sure this one isn’t to everyone’s taste and I had to get used to the dreamy look myself but in the end I like it enough so why not post it here. The light is coming from the last glow of the setting sun while the temperatures where dropping very quickly and a sea of clouds covered the glacier pretty quickly. Media is a tool that can program and reprogram the human bio-computer. Stories pattern the imagination. Language helps us think about our thinking. Cinema can open up new vistas for our minds. This video is a new collaboration with my friend, artist and filmmaker Jason Silva, host of National Geographic’s BrainGames and creator of Shots of Awe. Jason sent me an inspiring recording he made in the park with his Iphone discussing how powerful advances in technology can extend our connections to each other making us more compassionate and kind-hearted beings. He proposes that communication technologies act as “empathy machines”, opening up new intersubjective spaces where we can all become one. These new tools give us new “spaces of possibility” to explore, and this video is a celebration of that new space of imagination, compassion, collaboration and inspiration. Jason and I have become good friends, kindred spirits, and share a passion for intense inspiration, for using videos to share new vistas, and when he sent me this I was so excited, I started creating visuals right away. Hope you find it inspiring. We took three days and repurposed footage from Shots of Awe series, it was a spontaneous desire to create a campaign for POSSIBILITY and a call to action to improve the world. The Driveway by RolfNachbar

Yesterday evening I took this little summer impression at the old water pump station near our village. Enjoy your sunday, I hope you'll like it! via 500px http://bit.ly/1BcFv9p

Volcano Calbuco erupted on April 22, 2015, for the first time in four decades. Located close to the cities of Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt in southern Chile. We spend the prior couple of days on the neighboring volcano Osorno (~20km linear distance) shooting timelapses. After an amazing night under the nightsky we took the cable car downwards after a delay caused by repairs. Already late we headed south to catch the ferry on Routa 7 down to Patagonia. After 10min on the ferry we noticed a massive, almost nuclear looking cloud boiling upwards just were we left a few hours ago. Frenetically looking for a good outlook we then rushed to the only non-forested place to get a decent view of the show. We quickly put every bit of camera-equipment we could find on the constantly growing mushroom-cloud. We shot timelapses in 8K and 4K with a Pentax 645Z and Canon 6D. On the A7s we shot 4K video to the Shogun. We filled almost all of our memory cards in the prior night so I had to do backups while shooting all this stuff. This was for sure the most incredible show I’ve ever seen. I think this is a one in a lifetime event and I am so happy that we were able to capture it in all its glory. We will also release a timelapse video of our 6 weeks trip to Patagonia soon. Pyroclastic Fragmentation by bruceomori

An immense lava bubble explodes violently, casting expanding sheets of lava more than 100 feet across... spreading and instantly cooling... solidifying into paper-thin pyroclasts that fracture in midair, creating a cloud of glitter in the sky. This image is very similar to one I submitted awhile ago, although this is the next sequential frame in the burst... 1/10th of a second later, and it better shows the formation of sheets of glass before they shatter into glitter-like fragments. via 500px http://bit.ly/1GDUNEb

I have never experienced a moment quite like this. I was in the Alvord Desert hoping for a starry night, but the sunset/thunderstorm stole the show. via 500px http://bit.ly/1MyLENv

Where Dreams Still live by OleHenrikSkjelstad

A re-edit of an image from March 2014. The first version was over-sharpened, had plenty of clipped blacks and what back then looked awesome in my eyes now looked absolutely terrible. I can live with this version. The old version will be deleted from here asap. via 500px http://bit.ly/1B5M8u1

Tenerife by maxrivefotograaf

'Upcoming Sarek Tour I shot this pano last winter in Tenerife during one of my night hikes where I had no idea what to do or what to expect. These kinds of hikes often result in a lot of testing, idiotic scrambles, wet feet and nothing good in terms of photos but apart from the learning process and skills you gain it can sometimes also result in a keeper.. Although this is not something really special in terms of light or location, I was glad I could put everything together the way I had in mind. This is a 340 degree pano consisting of 18 vertical shots at 14mm. In each shot I used a flashlight to do some indirect light painting to such extend it would not influence the mood of the night too much. I wanted to have some more depth, sharpness and colors, something which is lacking in a normal full night shot.. I had to make sure the amount and the direction of light was equal in each shot in order to get a natural result. I also used some focus stacking for the nearest bushes. The light on the left is zodiacal light. via 500px http://bit.ly/1MqQJHH

Wayfarer by ThomasBrownPhotography

My buddy and myself recently went on a surfing / photo adventure down south to explore some interesting place’s and to surf some new surf breaks. The first day of the trip late in the afternoon we arrived at Dark Point Dunes, Just north of Hawksnest NSW. There had been quite server weather for the area 1 week prior to our arrival and it was very apparent that storms were still hanging around. We got a break in the rain right at sunset and we decided to go trekking over about 5-6 huge sand dunes to find some untouched areas to photograph. As soon as we got to a good spot to shoot, the weather seemed to be circling us and produced some very moody and interesting cloud formations. I asked my buddy to walk up over the ridge behind us to check what the weather was doing. He got to the top and yelled “ yeppp we better get going, a wall of water is headed our way” I finished getting my shots , chucked my gear into my new Vanguard Sedona 45 Camera bag and we started bolting back to the truck… We got about halfway back to the Land Cruiser and it caught up to us, even running at full pelt we couldn’t get away from this cloud front. Running through soft and very steep sand hills with a lot of heavy Medium Format gear and one very sturdy tripod sure gave me a workout. My lungs and airway burnt from the massive sprint back, and it completely exhausted me. We made it back and my gear was dry and untouched thanks to the quality Sedona 45 bag. This was the last shot I got before we had to run. Dark Point Sand Dunes, NSW Australia Focus stacked for Depth of Field. Pentax 645Z + DA25mm thomasbrownimages.com via 500px http://bit.ly/1QMbezF

Sugar-coated by DylanFox

Sugarloaf Rock is a very often photographed location in Australia's south-west corner. I have been many times before, however went on this particular evening with the intent of capturing something truly unique... You can see that result in a previous upload. This was still a new composition for me but I made this photograph after the previous just to take full advantage of the awesome skies! The light didn't last long but it went off! These clouds drifted over from behind me with perfect timing! Made for a very fun evening and made the 3 hour drive home a little more bearable... via 500px http://bit.ly/1IFuIXy
