Into The Blue by MarselvanOosten

[PLEASE VIEW ON BLACK] Just a few more days and I'm off to Iceland again for this year's Iceland Winter Wilderness tour. One of the things that we'll do, is visit an ice cave in Europe's largest glacier. This image is from last year's tour. We were all shooting the amazing cave when suddenly a rope fell down from a small opening above us. A few moments later some guy came navy sealing down into the cave. It was a bizar moment, but also a good one - many photographs have been shot in this cave last year and they all look fairly similar. It was really nice to be able to get something completely different. - - - If you would like to join me on our next Iceland tour and learn more about landscape photography and composition, please check out my website for more information: Squiver Photo Tours & Workshops Or download the brochure: Iceland Winter Wilderness (PDF) We are the only company that visits both the South and the North on the same trip by using a privately chartered plane - less traveling time, more photography. Hope to see you there! Marsel Website | Blog | Facebook ©2014 Marsel van Oosten, All Rights Reserved. Dancing With The Stars by Alsabar

I hope u will like it . via 500px http://bit.ly/19RaATF

I am interested in the concept of skin and race, and what they imply; in the ideas and theories sown into our flesh that change with the arc of time. The idea of beauty has become globalised, creating homogenous aspirations, and distorting people’s self-image across the planet. In my film, I focus on African women’s self-image, through memories and interviews; using mixed media to describe this almost schizophrenic self-visualization that I and many others have grown up with. -Best Experimental Short Film, Black Star Film Festival, USA August 2014 -Best Short Film, AfriKamera Film Festival, Warsaw, Poland April 2014 -3rd place in the Documentary Category, 2nd Afrinolly Short Film Competition, February 2014 -Best Animation, This Is England Film Festival, Rouen, France November 2013 -Best Student Film, Underexposed Film Festival, SC, USA November 2013 -Silver Hugo for Best Animated Short, 49th Chicago International Film Festival, USA October 2013 -Special Mention, 59th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Germany May 2013 -Best Short Film, Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Lagos, Nigeria March 2013 -Best Animation, 7th Kenya International Film Festival, Nairobi, Kenya November 2012 -Africa Movie Academy Awards, Bayelsa, Nigeria April 2013 Nominated for Best Short Film Award -Colours of the Nile Film Festival Addis Ababa, Ethiopia November 2012 Nominated for Best Short Film Award -Encounters Short Film Festival Bristol, UK September 2012 Nominated in The Nahemi Student Film Awards http://on.fb.me/1FHBOcn thenge.com/

Good Morning, Lofoten by yanl

Yes, this is my second trip to Lofoten islands of Norway, and I am missing Norway already. It was fun three weeks with Jeff Lewis, Tung and Maomao, we hiked a lot, explored some places with no trails and snow covered mountains. From this trip, I am very into mountaineering, especially towards snow mountains. via 500px http://bit.ly/1N9kApo

Moon Shrine by MAPhoto

The crecent moon rises under a ultra-wide view exposed for the Milky Way and natural rock formations. I originally posted this 6-image stitch here for a brief while a couple weeks ago, at which point I received feedback from a community member that the automated merging of the Milky Way images looked slightly off, so thanks! Obviously this was a ridiculously hard image to process. In fact, I would say it is THE most difficult one to process I have ever taken. Not only is is stitched but also focus-stacked and exposure blended. The visualization of my complete process in taking and shooting this shot took years and many screw-ups to get right (at least I think). I'd love to hear any feedback. I know it's not for everyone, as a non-photographer might not even know what we're looking at here, but I consider it one of my most unique images, one that can only be captured in very short windows of time. via 500px http://bit.ly/1LLMESc

Dying Earth by erax7

Milky way season is back with us here in my area. While it's actually been active for about a month, moon conditions for the weekend hasn't made it worth my while. I will do a blog post in due course for this trip. Just been so flat out that I haven't had the time for too much for awhile. Image is a 27 image panorama at ISO 6400 F2.8 25s 16mm. This time I applied a gel to my flash to create a different tone. Didn't end up doing too much post processing after stitching this time. The green glow is from airglow. Salt lake in Western Australia. Salt lakes can be caused by erosion with the minerals collecting in basins and not running off or by increase in the water table (more common here in Australia) due to land clearing for agriculture. The salinity issue causes problems with agriculture and using the land for anything else. Some businesses farm the salt. Salt lakes change greatly throughout the year. I scouted this location out only about 3 weeks prior to the shoot and the rate of change was quite significant with more cracks and rupturing that I had to travel further into the lake to get some "cleaner" pressure ridges. via 500px http://bit.ly/18RCpKt

Seal Rock Cosmos by alan_howe

One of the all time best sunsets I've caught at the coast. The "all time" list continues to grow and I count my blessings for each one I am able to witness. For me it's one of those reminders that the best shots often come from locations not far from the door step. I remember pulling up the webcam and seeing these amazing clouds, grabbing my gear and just going for it. When I arrived the sky was way more wicked cool than I had hoped and the conditions just kept getting better. I've seen so many more surreal sunsets and sunrises than I've captured on camera. You think well that's a no brainer but really it's a big deal. For so many years I just plain didn't observe the sky and fine light during those times of day.... for so many years before I became a photographer. And still, so many people don't see this when it's right in front of them. For example I feel so lucky when I am driving into work on the freeway and the sky is filled with amazing colors and light. I just ignore all of the people riding my bumper and passing me like I'm standing still while I sip my coffee and try to take it all in. via 500px http://bit.ly/1HnAtrP

Aiguilles de Chamonix firing up during beautiful sunset. I know I became boring with all this Mont Blanc photographs but for the last half of year I haven't been that active so this is the only photographs I have lately. 'Wonderful Wanaka' by MikeyM

Follow me: http://on.fb.me/1BAk7Uv I decided to re-edit my second panorama, shot a bit further out in the lake than my Wanaka Way panorama. This time round I am using a histogram stretching method (with a lot of intricate masking) I have been using on my deep sky images, just wanted to see how it would work on an image like this. Let me know what you think of this edit! Canon 6D + Samyang 24mm ƒ1.4 lens 31 images 20 seconds ƒ3.5 10,000 ISO via 500px http://bit.ly/1H4hiDd

Double Arch by WaynePinkston

An Arch of Stars and an Arch of Stone. Panorama Of Broken Arch at night in Arches National Park, Utah, USA. This is a re-edit of an image from last summer that I was not happy with. There was a lot of airglow (green) that night. Previously I thought this interfered with the beauty of the sky and tried to get rid of it. In this version I have left it unchanged except for increasing the contrast and vibrance, The glow on the horizon is light pollution from Moab, Utah. This is a panorama of 24 vertical images stitches together in photoshop. Acquired with a Rokinon 24 mm f/1.4 lens at f 1.8, 20 sec exposures, ISO 6400. Paying Reverence To The Rising Moon by JeffDeveau

This is a capture of the rising moon over the famous tree in Joshua Tree National Park. About 8 months ago I saw a image similar to this here and decided I wanted to take one like it only wider. I opened up the photographers ephemeris and found out when the next time the moon would be low and over the rock and tree at sunrise. it was about 6 months away. I told Chip Morton one of our other instructors from California Captures about it and we patiently waited for the date to come. I drove out the night before and met chip who had been camping here a few days. when the time came we climbed up the little hill it sits on and setup under the stars and waited for the sun to rise. We got a few minutes of nice color in the sky with a amazingly clear moon. It all worked out and I got the shot I was after. This image is a focus stacked image. The moon was shot in the position you see it at 400mm and layered back into the wide angled shot. To see more of our images follow our other californiacaptures.net instructors on 500px. I always found the flower’s timelapses fabulous, but most of the time they are made with a black background. Then I told myself to make a beautiful flower’s timelapse with coloured and vintage backgrounds. To me, the 60’s / 70’s is the most representative period for the flowers. This is a way to pay tribute to them. Hidden Underworld by ArturStanisz

Baffin Island Photo Adventure with Artur Stanisz will take place between August 26-September 9, 2015. If you would like to participate in this photography workshop and Arctic adventure , please email me for details: arturstanisz@gmail.com Photo description: Glaciers tend to be abundant with hidden “treasures” that are usually hard, but not impossible to spot. This is not a particularly welcoming world, but if one finds it, the richness of its internal beauty can leave the spectator speechless. The Turner Glacier located on Baffin Island hosts many camouflaged spots where nature-made frozen processes take place. I discovered this icy chamber during one of the days that were cursed by absolutely clear sky. This is not my favourite type of weather and on days like that I tend to look for more interesting places. I crawled inside one of the holes in the glacier and explored it for couple of hours. What I saw there is hard to describe. Luckily, I had my camera with me so I was able to capture on this photo the unseen beauty of this desolated underworld. via 500px http://bit.ly/1F5Rpkj
